POAM II PMC Research

A detailed analysis of the Polar Mesospheric Cloud events in the POAM II data set has been perform. The results of this analysis are published in the Journal of Geophysical Research, Vol. 102, No. D2, pages 1971-1981, January 27, 1997.

An Analysis of POAM II Solar Occultation Observations of Polar Mesospheric Clouds in the Southern Hemisphere.

This article describes in detail the PMC detection algorithm, the geometric cloud model used to fit the residual PMC profiles as well as the results of these fits. The 1993-1994 and 1994-1995 Southern Hemisphere seasons are examined.

After completion of the 1995-1996 Southern Hemisphere season, the PMC events detected were analyised and the results concatenated to the first two seasons in a presentation at the COSPAR Conference held in Birmingham, England in July of 1996. This presentation resulted in the following short manuscript which has been accepted for publication in Advances in Space Research.

POAM II Observations of Polar Mesospheric Clouds in the Southern Hemisphere.
